Jokin Lizeaga

Trail Runner

This runner from Urnieta (Gipuzkoa, Basque Country), born in 1979, has a degree in Physical Education and specializes in mountain running. These are the competitions he competes in most. He is also a coach. He is a member of the Basque Mountain Racing Team and the Ternua Team.

One milestone in his career was his victory at the Chaberton Marathon (World Cup Trail) in 2009. Another of his great achievements took place at the Zegama skyrunning competition (World Cup) in 2012, where he finished in 5th place. He also won the Montcalm Marathon (Sky Race World Cup) in 2012. His list of achievements includes victories at Arratzu Urdaibai, Mello Saria, Donostia-Hondarribia, Valdecebollas Integral, Urnietako Mendi Lasterketa, Montan Trail Aspe, Hellmouth, Senpere Trail, and more. Although we must not forget that he is the Basque runner who holds the Zegama-Aizkorri record: 3h 59min 11s. One of his most significant recent achievements was placing 3rd overall in the World Cup.

Jokin has also been coaching a wide range of runners for many years. From the young talent on the Basque team to elite runners, his protégés currently rank among the Top 10 in the world in their specialties, including Manuel Merillas, Aritz Egea, and Jordi Gamito.
