Natural Fibers
Natural fibers are fibers with fragments, threads, or down originating in nature that can be spun into yarn or string. Natural fibers can come from animals (Merino wool) or plants (Tencel). Therefore, these fibers have a reduced impact on nature and the environment.
Merino sheep wool, due to the greater length and smaller diameter of its fibres, produces a softer yarn with a finer crimp that is more pleasant in contact with the skin than the wool of other sheep breeds. The core of the fibre is hydrophilic and breathable. Since it is a fibre that retains heat even when wet, it is the intermediate fibre in T3 socks and the main fibre in T2 socks for use in colder temperatures.
Tencel® is a cellulose Lenzing fibre which comes from Eucalyptus plants on certified sustainable plantations. Tencel®’s nano-structure provides exceptional wicking, accumulation, expansion and drying of moisture.
Hybrid Fibers
Hybrid fibers are made up of a combination of natural fibers (from natural sources) and synthetic fibers (manufactured). Since they were designed with recycled materials including polyester, Lorpen’s new hybrid fibers are a more sustainable version of its previous fibers.
The new MerinoDry Recycled yarn blends and complements the main benefits of superfine merino wool with 100% recycled polyester synthetic fibre that improves moisture management properties and dries faster, also making it more hard-wearing.
RecoverWool yarn is made from recycled post-industrial wool and recycled polyester. The combination of this two yarns offers a superb balance between thermoregulation and sweat management.
Synthetic Fibers
These fibers do not come from nature, meaning they are manufactured. As a company committed to the environment and reducing our ecological footprint, at Lorpen we’ve replaced the majority of our old synthetic fibers with sustainable and eco-friendly ones. These fibers have been manufactured from recycled materials such as plastic bottles and disused fishing nets, among others.
Polyester yarn developed by Primaloft® (world number one in artificial thermal insulation in technical garments). It is a soft, thermally insulating, hydrophobic fibre that expels and does not absorb moisture, with 70% of the content now made from recycled resources such as plastic bottles.

Coolmax® EcoMade technology provides the long-lasting freshness you would expect from the Coolmax® brand, but produced with 97% recycled materials to help the environment. This polyester fibre is made from 100% recycled PET bottles, offering continuous moisture wicking.
The new Lorpen Re-Thermic fibre used in T2 models comes from Unifi® and is composed of 100% recycled polyester from plastic bottles with a hollow core, whose main property is to retain body heat inside and wick moisture away from the skin due to its hydrophobic qualities.
The new Lorpen Re-Fresh fibre used in T2 models comes from Unifi® and is composed of 50% Sorbtek® polyester and 50% Repreve® polyester, entirely recycled from plastic bottles. This yarn wicks moisture away from the skin three times faster than rival brands thanks to Catch-Move-Release™ technology.
Red-Cycled Nylon yarn is made entirely from fishing nets whose useful life in the fishing industry has come to an end. In this way, instead of becoming a danger at the bottom of the sea, they are recycled to give life to a new nylon yarn. This continuous fibre yarn is hard-wearing and provides good cushioning. It withstands wear and tear better than any other fibre on the market.
This is a polypropylene fibre whose main property is that it dries at high speed, providing a good thermal sensation and comfort. It also gives the sock antibacterial properties and is BlueSign® certified.
This is a synthetic elastane fibre that can stretch up to six times its length and return to its original condition. It is placed throughout the sock for a better fit and a long-lasting anti-slip.
Thanks to its hollow structure, the “Thermolite® Eco Made” hollow recycled polyester keeps the wearer warm and dry during intense activities in cold conditions. Produced with 97% recycled materials from PET bottles.
